A 78 year old male Veteran was found roaming the streets of the Marcus Hook community.  The Veteran became homeless when the friend he was staying with moved away and he had no other supports.  He was receiving Veteran Administration (VA) benefits and had the ability to pay his own rent but refused to leave the area.

He was enrolled in the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program.  After several months of intensive case management, it was documented by the doctors at the VA Hospital in Coatsville that the Veteran was incapable of living on his own without support.  A subsidized supportive housing unit was located for the Veteran.  He was also linked with the County Office of Services for the Aging (COSA) to provide him with support.  CAADC helped him furnish his unit through our Donations Warehouse.
