Upper Chichester – Community Action Agency of Delaware County, Inc. (CAADC) is spotlighting the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) for eligible Delaware County residents. CAADC is joining others across the nation in generating awareness for EITC Awareness Day on January 27, 2023. EITC Awareness Day is a nationwide effort to bring awareness to one of the most important tax credits available to working families and individuals. With strong bipartisan support since its inception in the mid-70s, it has grown to become one of the largest anti-poverty tools in the U.S. Unfortunately, nearly one in five people eligible for the EITC do not claim it. CAADC is joining with its community partners to ensure that people know how vital the EITC can be to their family.

For members of our community, the Earned Income Tax Credit is a key contributor to their financial security. Residents, as individuals, can see returns as high as $6,935, depending on the number of children in their family and their income level.

The community can also join the conversation today by using the hashtag #EITC or #EITCAwarenessDay, and make sure that people in the community know about this important tax credit! CAADC will also have more information available about EITC at its free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites.  CAADC will be operating tax preparation sites for eligible residents in Chester, Boothwyn, Darby and Upper Darby.  To schedule a free appointment please call (610) 833-4443. CAADC is also looking for volunteers to help prepare taxes.  Volunteers are vital to the success of these VITA sites.  If interested in volunteering please email wfoth@caadc.org.
